A fence line nobody touches for a few years stops being a line. Privet, briars, and volunteer trees move into the row, the wire disappears inside a hedgerow, and pretty soon you cannot see the boundary, much less stretch new wire on it. Fence line clearing cuts the row back clean — the full length, both directions from every corner — without tearing up the ground on either side of it.

Cattlemen and horse people whose cross fences and perimeter lines are too grown-up to restring. New owners who have a plat and a set of pins but cannot walk the boundary to find them. Neighbours splitting the cost of opening a shared line before a fencing crew comes out. On the small places around Bethel and toward Ora, it is usually pasture edges and fence rows that quietly turned into hedgerow while the front of the property got all the attention.
The mulcher works the row as a narrow, straight swath. The growth is ground where it stands rather than pushed into a windrow on the neighbour’s side, which matters on a boundary — and because a tracked machine carries its weight low, it tidies a soft bottomland row without leaving the ruts a heavier machine would put in it. What is left is a clean corridor with a mulch layer on it and the ground either side undisturbed.
Old wire is the one thing to talk about up front. A row that has been grown in for years usually has strands of it buried in the growth, and where it is and what condition it is in changes how the machine works the line.
